How big is the base compared to the height?
A square pyramid rises by one layer for every two blocks of base width, so a 21-wide base is about 11 layers tall. An odd base narrows to a single block at the very top; an even base finishes as a 2x2 top.
How is this different from a beacon pyramid?
A beacon pyramid is truncated — it stops at a 3x3 platform with the beacon on top and is only up to four layers. This builds a full pyramid that tapers all the way to a point, at any base size. For beacon builds specifically, use the beacon calculator.
How many blocks does a pyramid need?
