How do I steal a Minecraft skin?
Type any Java Edition player's username into the box above and press Grab Skin. There is nothing to install and no login — Minecraft skins are public data served by Mojang, so viewing and downloading one is instant and free.
Is it legal to download someone else's Minecraft skin?
Downloading a skin for personal use — to look at it, get inspiration, or wear it yourself — is fine, and player skins are served publicly by Mojang's own API. What you should not do is re-upload someone's custom skin and pass it off as your own original artwork, or use it commercially. Treat it the way you'd treat any fan content: enjoy it, but credit the creator.
What is the difference between a skin stealer and a skin grabber?
Nothing — "skin stealer", "skin grabber" and "skin downloader" all mean the same thing: a tool that fetches another player's Minecraft skin so you can view or download it. This page does all three. /tools/skin-grabber points here too.
Can I download just the head or face?
Yes. After you grab a skin, use the Download Head button to save just the head — the tool crops the face and hat layer from the skin and exports a clean, upscaled PNG. It's handy for avatars, server icons, and profile pictures.
Does this work for Bedrock Edition players?
No. This tool uses Mojang's Java Edition profile API, which only exposes Java accounts. Bedrock skins are stored per-device and are not published through a public API, so they can't be looked up by username.
Why can't I find a player's skin?
Usually a typo — usernames must match exactly (they are not case-sensitive but must be spelled right). If the player has never set a custom skin, you'll see the default Steve or Alex skin. Very new name changes can also take time to propagate through Mojang's systems.
